Start with the current rule
Before changing the process, review the lease, HOA rule, tenant notice or parking policy already in use. Management should know exactly what the property says before asking anyone to enforce it.
Make the rule easy to explain
Residents, tenants, employees and visitors should be able to understand the rule without a long explanation. State where the vehicle may park, what authorization is required and when the rule applies.
Check the signs
Posted signs should support the written policy. If the sign and the property rule say different things, drivers and staff will receive conflicting information.
Decide who handles reports
The property should identify the people who may report a violation, request service or update instructions. Keeping the contact list current helps prevent mistakes.
Keep basic records
